The DOXI

Doxi is a fresh new take on the aluminum beverage can

engineered and designed with a full aperture open end, along with:

  • a recloseable lid,
  • a thicker glass-like lip, and
  • a tapered shape

The Doxi drinks like a glass and not a can

If you were to design an aluminum can that allows both your mouth to taste, and your nose to assist by bringing in the aroma, you would want the widest possible opening – a large full aperture open end.

Reclosable

With the Doxi’s threaded lid it’s easy to reclose your drink and throw it in your backpack to save for later.

Thick/Glass-like Lip

The Doxi feels sturdier in your hand and more sophisticated at your lips, with its thicker aluminum body and lip. When drinking from the Doxi, the easy-sip lip feels similar to drinking from a glass. You don’t even feel the threaded closure as with other cans, since the Doxi’s threads are hidden inside the lip.

Taper Shape

The tapered shape and slight bulge at the top of the Doxi makes it fit better in your hand, improving your grip, while being more comfortable for those longer drinking sessions.

Doxi: The Craft Beverage Can

When drinking out of an ordinary can your nose might touch the aluminum top or pull tab and your lips close the opening off from your nose. A similar thing happens when you drink out of a bottle except that your nose doesn’t touch or smell the can end, just the air surrounding the bottle. Every drink has an aroma and you want to intake that aroma when you are drinking a quality craft beverage.

Enjoy Aromas

The Doxi lets you get your nose into the beverage you’re drinking. You’re able to smell the wonderful aroma of that drink and fully appreciate its taste.

With a fully open end, the Doxi allows you to:

The Doxi enhances the overall craft beverage experience through taste, tactile sensations and visual differentiation.

Why a large full aperture open end?

A large, full aperture, open end can does more than improve a drink’s taste. Have you ever picked up a canned or bottled drink and it was too warm to drink? Have you ever tried sticking ice through that tiny opening in an ordinary can? Have you ever wanted to put ice in a canned or bottled “Iced Tea”? It is almost impossible unless you have thin, tiny pieces of ice.

The Story Behind the Doxi

With all these incremental design enhancements the overall drinking experience has dramatically improved so that the Doxi drinks like a glass and not a can.

There are so many drinks today, that are sold in cans which actually taste better with ice in them, like iced teas, cold coffees, bubbly seltzers, and flavored malt beverages. The only solution used to be to grab a cup or glass, add ice and then pour your beverage into it. Several beverage companies have even drawn diagrams on their packaging showing how to pour their beverage into a glass with ice. With a large, full aperture, open end can there is no need to waste a plastic cup or wash a glass. Just add ice to the can and taste the beverage as intended.

Today if you want to taste a quality beverage like a fruity or earthy wine, or a citrus hoppy beer, or a vanilla nutty cold brew coffee you will want to smell it.

When you drink wine you pour it into a glass, swirl it around and then smell it before you drink it. You don’t pinch your nose closed because you want to intake the full aroma, as part of the drinking experience. You might even enjoy experiencing carbonation bubbling the soft fruity notes of a new seltzer at the top of your drink, after you pour it into a glass.
